Inauguration

The Shiva-Shakti Koti Japa Yagya was inaugurated on Vijaya Dasami ("Victory Day") following the Nine Nights of Mother Divine on October 7th , 2000 with a special sankalpa (resolution of intent) and ceremony at the conclusion in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.

Pandit Sharma then recited the Mahasankapla ("resolution of intent") to declare the purpose and goal of this year-long Yagya:

"May all that is negative fade away and may purity rise up.
 May enlightenment and material abundance increase.
 May mutual understanding and feelings of friendliness grow, and may devotion to the divine increase in all human beings.
 May balance in the environment of our homes, communities, nations and the whole world be restored and may we enjoy protection from all natural disasters.
 May the qualities of truth, moral behavior and compassion in be enlivened in the all rulers of the world.
 And may peace and harmony reign in the entire universe."
