MahaShivaratri Celebration

We are happy to announce our annual MahaShivaratri Celebration with Pundit Sharma on Sunday evening, February 26. Please arrive at 7:30 pm for the Celebration at Morning Star Studio in Fairfield, Iowa.

The evening's program consists of four separate events:

7:45 pm Rudra Abhishek (Shivalingam Ablutions)
10:45 pm Mrityunjaya Homa (Fire Ceremony for Healing)
1:30 am Shiva Sahasranam (Thousand Names of Shiva)
4:00 am Rudra Abhishek (Shivalingam Ablutions)

Protocol for MahaShivaratri: Fasting is observed during the evening celebration and is recommended throughout the day. Abstinence from grains, meat and eggs is suggested for fasting. You may eat fruits and milk and yogurt and sattvic cooked vegetables are okay.

It is traditional to bring fruit and flowers. You may participate in any or all of the events. Sponsorships are available for the entire evening at $108 or for a specific event at $36. You may be a sponsor even if you are unavailable to attend.

Volunteer help is definitely needed to set up in the afternoon and throughout the evening. Please call the phone number below. We also need prasad and someone to make ghee.
